“It will talk about many aspects like IDPs, human rescue and also the war itself which is considered as one of the unique wars that fought in the world,” Boodee said speaking to the TV Times.
Despite it being a film of war, there are several other underlined stories about love and other aspects of life.
“I always wanted to do a war film and when I thought seriously about this contemporary war, I asked myself why I don’t use it for my next direction,” Boodee said.
“There are many outsiders like those who were away from this country talk much about war and its stories. I want to recapture and show them what exactly happened during this decisive period,” he said.
In addition to the few well-known actors like Saumya Liyanage, Sarath Kotelawala and Vasantha Vittachchi, a large number of new comers will make their debut appearance with ‘Maathaa’.
“Starring real life actors, the roles of different ethnic groups will be played by actors from each respective ethic groups. In addition a large number of army personnel also will play specially the war scenes of the film,” the director said.
Nearly 60 days of shooting will cover the actual war sites and locations in and around Colombo.
